Town Palenque is a very popular stop for all travelers over Mexico, mainly thanks to sites lying in its surroundings. In one day you can visit breathtaking Mayan ruins lying on the edge of the forest, drive through the local mountainous landscape to breathtaking blue cascade Aqua Azul and finish the trip by visiting a nice waterfall with Misol-ha a little cave.

The best is first go to the ruins of Palenque, the sooner the better. And in the afternoon you can get to the waterfalls.

Ancient Mayan town of Palenque is nestled in the foothills of Chiapas mountains and is surrounded by the remains of virgin forest. Palenque competes with its Guatemalan rival Tikal for the post of the most beautiful Mayan ruins. Most visitors agree that local buildings are perhaps a little nicer, but there are crowds of tourists, which takes away from the atmosphere a little. Anyway, Palenque should certainly be the „mandatory“ stop your journey around Mexico.
