Ascent to Mount Grodna (504m)
To the north of the Krkonoše lies the low Lomnická upland. It is interesting because it offers beautiful views of the long Krkonoše ridge. The highest mountain of this pocket mountain range is Grodna (504m). The main reason to go to this hill is the romantic castle – Henryk Castle built in the framework of romanticism in the 19th century
Panoramic view of Lake Sosnówka
The starting point for a short walk to Henryka Castle is the parking lot (free) with a view of the Sosnówka reservoir. You get here by turning right at the main intersection above the town of Sosnowka in the direction of Staniszow / Jelenia Gora and after 150 meters turn left onto a narrow local road. It is then only 400 meters to the parking lot. There is a pretty nice view of the lake from the parking lot itself.
View of the top of Sněžka
The peak of Sněžka, the highest mountain in the Krkonoše Mountains, which towers over the hills behind Sosnowka, can also be seen from here.
Under the castle
The road to the castle itself (approx. 1 km) is not much to write home about. First, it climbs for a while past several recreational facilities, and then the path disappears in the forest and more or less follows the contour. The total ascent from the parking lot to the castle is only about 100 meters in height.
Henryk Castle
The castle itself is a very nice building in a really beautiful vantage point. There are also benches and a fireplace, so it must be super romantic by the fire in the evening. There is an entrance fee to the castle itself.
View of Sosnowka
From the castle tower, you have the entire dam in the palm of your hand.
A wonderful view of the Giant Mountains
The view towards Sněžka is breathtaking
View of the Jizera Mountains
Far to the west you can see the peaks of the Jizera Mountains and the ruins of the mighty Chojník Castle
