Fishing town with a fortress
Barka used to be a popular stop for tourists moving along the northern Omani coast. Now there is a seaside highway under construction, so part of the historic center fell victim to this construction. Here you will find only the famous fishing market and the local, currently renovated fortress. It pays to stop here only if you have a way through the city
Fish market in Barce
The Fishmarket is an ideal place to start your short boat tour. There are plenty of places to park in the area and it is basically the only place where it lives here
Tuna
There are many species of fish on offer, but most of them are tuna
Fortress in Barce
Right behind the fish market is the local fortress. It is currently being renovated (as of 4/2018) and, like other Omani castles, is in perfect order.
Around the fortress
Thanks to the renovation, the fortress is closed to visitors, so we just went around it, but compared to other Omani castles, it does not look so interesting
One of the mosques in Barce
Thanks to the construction of the highway, many buildings in the historic center were demolished, so there is not much more to see here, so we do not stay here very long and continue to the beautiful Sawadi beach.
