Visit to the Alcúdia peninsula

The beautiful nature of the Alcúdia peninsula offers several tourist destinations, but the Mirador de Penya Rotja viewpoint is one of the best that Mallorca has to offer.
Sant Joan beach
We drive to the western edge of Mal Pas, from where there is a nice view of the neighboring cape Formentor.

Cape Alcudia
On the cape you can take a circular sightseeing path leading to the highest peak of Talaia d´Alcúdia, 451 m above sea level

Hermitage of the Victory
Parking by the monastery is the starting point of our journey. This time we look up at Cape Formentor from a height of 140 m

Ses Tres Creus
We climb a wide and comfortable path to the next viewpoint at the three crosses.

Serra de Tramuntana
After about 10 minutes of further walking, we turn sharply left onto a narrow path (there is a sign Penya Rotja) and climb up. From the scenic path is a beautiful view of the Serra de Tramuntana, in this part with the highest peak Puig Gros de Ternelles, 838 m above sea level

Cape Formentor
Above the coastal cliffs, we test the resistance to dizziness when overcoming a short secured section with a small tunnel, barely 1.5 meters high.

Menorca
Behind the tunnel we find an old bunker and a tank. In front of us is a view of the very edge of Cape Alcúdia, in the distance on the horizon is the island of Menorca.

Badia d´Alcúdia
We climb steeply up to the lookout. Below us to the east is the bay of Alcúdia and the NE coastal mountains.

Pine forest
The return is the same way with alternative branches of pine trees and views of Cape Formentor.
