Greek island of Zakynthos
Zakynthos is an island in the western part of Greece. Located in the Ionian Sea in the Ionian Islands. With an area of 410 km2 and a coastline of 123 km, it makes it the third largest island in the region.

Traveling around the island
This year's holiday was directed to the Greek island of Zakynthos. We rented a car here for three days so as not to laze on just one beach near the hotel where we lived in the Vasilikos area.
Navagio
The first trip was to the wreck of a ship. Navagio beach is the most famous beach on the island and one of the most photographed beaches in the whole Mediterranean. The beach is located in the northwestern part of the island, accessible only from the sea, by boat. Since 1983, the beach has been named after a shipwreck that was supposed to smuggle unpaid cigarette cartons. The shipwreck lies in the middle of a beach with white sand and pebbles surrounded by a rock massif and incredibly blue water. The beach can also be seen from the advanced Viewpoint on the rock massif near the village of Anafonitria.
Arrival by boat to Navagio
Navagio Beach can only be reached by boat. We boarded the port of Agios Nikolaos and traveled by sea for about an hour before reaching the bay where „Shipwreck“ is located.

Perhaps the most beautiful place of the whole island, beautiful clear water and white stones
View of Navagio beach
From the south of the island to the north, the narrow roads took us about an hour and a half. After the ship's expedition, we continued by car through serpentines to the lookout. Here are two options. The viewpoint where you arrive by car is a metal structure, but the view of the wreck from it is not nearly as nice as if you walk along the horizon along a paved path between small bushes to the Greek flag, which rises above the cliffs. Unfortunately, there is also a monument to the flag, a young man who probably ignored caution.
Blue Cave
The boat trip to Navagio leads around the cliffs, the Blue Cave

Caves into them, we had the opportunity to peek from the boat on the way back from Navagio beach

Keri Viewpoint
On the way back to our hotel, we make a stop on the west side of the island at Keri Viewpoint, where the most beautiful sunset on the island is.
Trip to Laganas
Laganas is a town in the south, from where boat trips to „Turtle Island“ Marathonisi are organized (we did not make this trip). It is possible to see turtles of Kareta – Kareta prava is a critically endangered sea turtle :-( In Laganas we walked over the bridge that leads to a small island – further into the interior of this island is paid entrance fee.
Kalamaki beach
Our next stop was the beach Kalamaki, which we found interesting because a short distance behind it is the airport and therefore planes land almost here :-)
St. Nicholas Beach
Just about half an hour walk from our hotel is the beach with the church of St. Nicholas

..a piece above the church you can go to the lookout with the Greek flag
Porto Zorro Beach
Another day and another beach – here are the cliffs, where mainly children have fun hunting shells, crabs. Next to this beach is another beach – Bannana beach – a long sandy beach, which did not seem interesting to us

The beach closes at night. Kareta turtles go here to lay eggs in the sand.
