To the northeast of the bustling resort of Laganas lies the much smaller Kalamaki. The local beach is interesting mainly for its location under a large cliff and the proximity of Mount Skopos. It is worth taking a short walk to the adjacent deserted beach even closer to the mountain. As a bonus, there is also very close tracking of landing aircraft

Western Kalamaki

A mile and a half of wild and desolate beaches from the end of Laganas, you will find an organized beach at Kalamaki Beach Hotel. It's basically the western end of this resort

Kalamaki wild beach

This is followed by half a kilometer of deserted beach, where the clutches of Kareta turtle eggs are marked

Aircraft landing over Kalamaki beach

From the beginning, it's a big attraction here, watching the landing of large planes directly overhead.

Cliff above Kalamaki

Probably one of the biggest reasons to go to Kalamaki beach is the cliff directly above it. You can reach it on well-trodden paths from the interior. However, the part where the flag flies is not the best view, it is a few tens of meters next door

Abandoned eastern part of Kalamaki

If you want privacy just walk a few tens of meters further east and the huge beach is just for you. If you only come here for half a day on a trip, it is better to go here in the afternoon, when you will not have Mount Skopos in the backlight.

A small peninsula

Kalamaki beach ends with a small peninsula. There are stones in the water, so a minor obstacle in exploration, but it pays to overcome them and look the other way.

Secret beach behind Kalamaki

Behind the peninsula is another, completely secluded beach stretching directly to the slope of Mount Skopos
