The Blaník PLA is the smallest protected landscape area in the Czech Republic. It was proclaimed on 29 December 1981. The highest point is Velký Blaník 638 m above sea level. The Blaník Protected Landscape Area was established because of its well-preserved natural and cultural heritage.
