The park was founded in 1929, as an extension of the Yellowstone Park, which lies only a short distance away. Grand Teton is a massive mountain range with the highest mountain of the same name, Grand Teton 4 199m asl. There are over 320 km of marked trails. The park is notorious for its difficulty caused by high altitudes and extreme sudden weather fluctuations.
