  • Main roads in the state is number 190 connecting all major towns (San Cristobal de las Casas, Tuxtla Gutiérrez and further to Tehuantepec and Oaxaca to the west or Guatemala to the east). An important direction is also to Palenque and further to Yucatán or to Villahermosa and further to Mexico City.
  • The roads in Chiapas are often in bad condition and some places may be threatened by zapatistas blocking the traffic.
  • A day trip to Palenque and above mentioned waterfalls are offered by local travel agencies.
