Belgrade is the capital and largest city of Serbia. Between 1918–1941 and 1945–1992, it was also the capital of what was then Yugoslavia. It flows through the city at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers. It is a good destination for a short stop on the way east, as several international road routes connecting Central Europe with the Balkans intersect here.

The name of the city is of Slavic origin and means White City. The name originated from the white stone of the local fortifications, from which there is a nice view of the city and both rivers.

The city of Belgrade was first recorded in 878 in a letter from the Pope to the Bulgarian Tsar Boris. History walked through the city, when it was part of the Byzantine or Hungarian Empire, the Turks passed through and then the Slavs moved here.

It has long since passed its heyday, which can be seen at first glance, although there are also parts that are modern and keep up with the times. We liked both the fortress walls and the modernized embankment along the Sava River. Not far from the city center, you will also find a large swimming pool with clean water on the Sava River, which is widely used by the locals during hot summer days.
