Area Arequipa and surroundings

The area around the second largest city of Peru – Arequipy is practically not missing in any itinerary of a trip around this country. Impressive volcanoes await tourists here: the beautiful Misti, the highest Coropuna or the relatively easily overcome six-thousand Chachani. Perhaps an even bigger attraction are the local canyons, which are among the deepest in the world. The better known Colca and perhaps even deeper and less accessible Cotahuasi. The largest river in the world, the Amazon, also springs below another Mismi volcano. Arequipa itself is a nice colonial town with lots of historic churches.
