Just a few kilometers above the bay Kalloni is situated the most important and largest monastery on island Lesbos – Moni Limonos. Under the Turkish occupation it served as the Greek intellectual center with an extensive collection of books. It is also interesting for its surroundings full of other chapels and shrines.
