Monastiraki Square is the unwritten center of Athens, just a short walk from the famous historic Acropolis. There are several other interesting buildings around the square, such as the Tzistarakis Mosque, the Pantanassa Church and the Hadrian's Library. Thanks to the metro station, for most tourists it is also the beginning of a circuit around the ancient Athenian monuments.
