The series of jagged cliffs lining the strip of black sand is an amazing place for sea observation and is also an important reserve of seabirds. Every nook and cranny in the cliffs is inhabited by seabirds from April to winter, whose presence is unmistakably revealed by guano splatters. Not far from here lies the town of Vík-í-Mýrdal, Iceland's southernmost settlement and the Reynisdrangar – Trolí skály rock needles.
