Security situation In Turkey has deteriorated considerably in recent years the. Coup attempts and terrorist attacks of the the Kurds and the Islamic state. War in the two countries beyond the borders. Turkey is still not among the countries where the risk was so great that there should not travel.
Earthquake
Turkey lies in seismically active area (Anatolian fault) on the border of three earth plates (Eurasian, African and Arabic). Minor earth tremors are almost a daily occurrence. Really big earthquake was in 1999 in the northwest of the country, mainly around Izmit. The death toll was about 20,000. The last major earthquake occurred in the east of the country near the town Van in 2013.
Terrorists
Recently multiply terrorist attacks occurs, mainly in Istanbul and Ankara, both in connection with the Islamic state and Kurdish rebels. Currently 12 January 2016 a suicide bomber attacked directly in the tourist district of Istanbul. Attacks will still fall victim to smaller cities.
