On the northwestern tip of Sicily you will find a small reserve Riserva Naturale Orientale dello Zingaro, which protects the preserved part of the coast with the only original European palm tree Žumara low. Along the way there are a number of beautiful beaches and karst caves

Cala Capreria

Zingaro Reserve can be reached via the town of Scopello, where there is an interesting rocky beach. From here you drive along a dead end road to a relatively large car park on the edge of the reservation. Following a clear route, we set out on a route leading several tens of meters above the coast with frequent turns to individual beaches. After less than a kilometer walk is the first beach – Cala Capreria

View of Monte Sparagio

Looking back you can see the beautiful lookout mountain Monte Sparagio (1,111 m above sea level).

Žumara low

The road is comfortable, sometimes secured with railings. But expect great heat in the morning, if you are here in the summer. Along the way, you will pass European palm trees

Peaks in the Zingaro Reserve

Some of the local peaks „growing“ directly from the sea reach almost a kilometer high

Paths to the beaches

Each walk to the beach means a nice descent and then of course the subsequent ascent back to the main route

View of Cala dell'Uzzo

In places where the main hiking trail begins to climb steeply up into the mountains towards Macari there is a beautiful view of probably the most beautiful beach in the reserve Zingaro – Cala dell'Uzzo

Grotta dell'Uzzo

Another local attraction is the Grotta dell'Uzzo, under which a tourist path leads to the sea. But more than a cave, it only looks like a eroded rock wall

Cala dell'Uzzo

After about 4.5 kilometers of walking (without walking to the beaches) we are at the destination of our trip to the beach Cala dell'Uzzo. After the bath, the same way back awaits us
