Lesser known beach on Samos
Just west of the mountain village of Koumeika you will find a turnoff that will take you to the sea to the Samoan beach of Balos. By Greek standards, this road is quite wide, without the usual adrenaline. The closer you get to its eastern end, the better the beach itself
Eastern part of Balos beach
After descending to the sea we get to a built-up part of the coast – Ormos Koumeikon. There are several taverns and therefore the possibility of refreshments. If you want to swim, continue further east, because here the beach is very narrow. After the development, the long free section of the beach ends with a short section with sunbeds. Then it's free again and finally there are a few sunbeds at the east end, where the most beautiful part of this beach is.
The end of Balos beach
From the sunbeds, the beach continues a little further to a nice cliff with small overhangs and caves. Here it is also possible to hide from the sun.
View to the west
Looking west, you can see the entire long beach Balos, ideal for people who do not like crowds. The highest mountain of Kerkris Island can also be seen in the background.
The end of the cliff
The most beautiful part of the beach is at the very end, just below the photogenic cliff. Further east is the rocky coast. If you swam along the coast for about 300 meters you would get to a completely deserted beach.
Under the cliff
Balos beach on Samos is not exactly a TOP island, but going here for a half-day trip is definitely not a mistake
