About 2.5 km northeast of the village Telgárt in the district Brezno is the source of the river Hron. The spring is located at the southeastern foot of Kráľova hole at an altitude of about 980 meters.
The second longest Slovak river
Hron is the second longest Slovak river (the longest is Váh, which springs on the opposite side of Kráľova hole), whose length is 298 km. It flows through the gorges and inter-mountain basins of the Western Carpathians on the upper and middle streams and through the Danubian Lowland on the lower stream. In the section Banská Bystrica – Zvolen it is widely used for boating.
