Mount Omuro and surroundings
Panoramic views of the nature and coast of the Izu Peninsula
Mount Omuro is a volcano near the east coast of the Izu Peninsula, south of the city of Ito. The beautiful silhouette of the mountain is visible from almost everywhere in the Izu Kogen area. From an altitude of 580 meters above sea level, the peak offers almost panoramic views of the near and far surroundings, including the iconic Mount Fuji.
Challenging climb
There is no difficult ascent. The volcano can be reached by car (if you don't mind left-hand traffic), but there are also buses. This is followed by a comfortable exit by chair lift.
Ito City
At the top there is a view, for example, of the nearest larger city – Ito City.
Hatsushima
Off the east coast of the Izu Peninsula is the small island of Hatsushima. There is a popular hotel resort on it.
Crater
The crater of the volcano is overgrown with vegetation, has a diameter of about 300 meters and can be walked around in about 20 minutes.
Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park
The national park in the interior of the peninsula has mountains with peaks over 1400 meters above sea level
Rice fields
Rice is grown not only in the immediate vicinity of the volcano, but in a number of other places on Izu.
Izu Oshima
About 20 km from the coast is the island of volcanic origin Izu Oshima, with the highest peak at 758 masl

The east coast of the Izu Peninsula offers lush vegetation and magnificent volcanic cliffs. It is such a tourist paradise.

And the long-awaited moment is coming. The clouds in the north are beginning to break. We gaze with pleasure and reverence at Japan's highest peak, the monumental Mt. Fuji, 3776 masl
Religion on top of a volcano
What is a Buddhist not allowed? Faith forbids inflicting pain on living creatures, taking what is not given to me, lying, drinking alcohol, and sexual immorality. I confess: at the top I tasted the Japanese beer Yebisu.
Ippeki
We head back towards Ito City. On the way we stop at a lake of volcanic origin, Ippeki. It was formed in an eruption about 100,000 years ago.
Ippeki
The entire lake can be bypassed along a very comfortable path. It is especially popular among the locals in autumn, when nature dresses up in a yellow-red robe.
Mt. Komura
Our last stop is Komuro Peak, towering directly above Ito City. It offers a view of the nearby coast.
Kawana
The Japanese like to play golf in their spare time (which they don't have much of). Golf courses and resorts are really widespread here. Directly below us and Mount Komuro is the popular Kawana Golf Resort.
Mt. Fuji
And this is the climax of today. A few tens of minutes before sunset, the top of Komuro offers an unforgettable view of Mt. Fuji. Nature gave the beauty a cloudy tip.
