Above the volcanic cliffs of the east coast of Izu
This eastern part of the Izu Peninsula is known for its spectacular ocean views and narrow trail winding over attractive volcanic cliffs. The route is not overloaded with a large number of tourists. Exceptions are places near lighthouse parking lots or suspended bridges.
Futa
We get off the bus from Ito City at the beginning of Futo Village.
Futomishima Shrine
As is common here, even in this relatively small place we discover a sanctuary.
Futa
We pass through the village, from which there are not only nice views of the ocean. Sometimes nature takes back what was taken from it.
Une Tenbo-Dai
We proceed in a southerly direction. At the end of the village of Futo, there is a viewpoint right by the ocean with the island of Oshima in the background.
Futo Port
We follow road No. 109, which runs right along the coast under a steep cliff. After about one kilometer, we are at the port of Futo.
Observable
We definitely leave Futo and proceed along a narrow path along the coast. Right at the beginning of it is a historical monument, an old hut for observing fish.
Jogasaki coast
Constant ups and downs lead us to the beautiful Jogasaki coast.
Jogasaki coast
We often leave the trail and wander through the confusing volcanic terrain of the coast.
Kadowaki Lighthouse
One of the landmarks of the route is the lighthouse, from the freely accessible top of which there is a view of the coast, through which we will continue in a southerly direction.
Izu Oceanic Park Diving Center
For the entire Izu Peninsula, there are many different diving schools and diving equipment rentals on its coast. But we were interested in the preparation of the locals for the approaching Halloween.
Renchakuji
The Halloween meeting alternates with a spiritual meeting, we look at the temple of the Renkuji Lotus Sect.
Igaigan
This route is not for those who don't like stairs. Ascents are alternated with descents, but sometimes it pays to leave the marked path and enjoy aerial views of the cliffs.
Jogasaki coast
There are not only tourists here. Locals also take advantage of the ocean access and try their luck at fishing.
Volcanic coast
It's up to each individual how many stops and free terrain descents they make to see the beauty and diversity of the volcanic coast. But we are approaching a place where there is an increased concentration of tourists: the popular attraction is the Hashidate Suspension Bridge. From there it is only a short distance to Izu-Kōgen, where you can continue by train or bus.
Izu Granpal
Those who want to see cute animals can stop at the amusement park on the way back by bus to Ito City. Do not feed !!!
