Travelling by plane

Aegean Airlines, a national carrier, has regular flights to Lesbos from Athens. Then there are charter flights from all over Europe, such as AirBerlin, Condor or Smartwings
Travelling by bus

There are bus lines on the island connecting the individual towns with Mytilene, but these lines are quite slow and not entirely practical for exploring the island.
Transport by off-road car

Rent an off-road car if you want to drive more safely through the local gravel roads (eg Sigri-Eresos) or go to some scenic hills (eg Lepetymnos), where you cannot get by car. The rental fee is, of course, significantly more expensive for such cars.
