The west coast of Rhodes tends to be more wind-swept, so here you will more often come across beaches with waves that encourage frolicking. We found one of these near the town of Fanes. In general, the entire west coast is less touristy, so we weren't too surprised that we had the entire beach almost to ourselves. Right by the beach there are fish restaurants for refreshments.
