Landslides
After heavy rains, there are also frequent landslides, which sometimes bury not only the road but also mountain villages. The most famous example was the gigantic landslide of the whole mountain in January 2010, which blocked the Hunza River and created the gigantic Lake Attabad.
Pakistan is generally very restless country with frequent terrorist attacks, especially by the mosques, at marketplaces or on buses full of shiia wanderers. Always determine in advance the current situation, where you are going. Remote North (Karakoram mountains) has a reputation of a safe and quiet area.
Natural disasters
Natural disasters plaguing rather south of the country (storms, floods) than the tourist north.
Tornadoes, Hurricanes and Typhoons
The sea coast of Pakistan is hit by tropical storms from the Indian Ocean. Karachi has been affected many times.
Floods
Very dangerous are summer monsoon floods, often catastrophic, particularly in the south of the country.
Dangerous people
In Pakistan, are unfortunately numerous of bad people committing terrorist and criminal attacks. As a result, tourism is very weak. On the other hand the area to the north of the country – the Karakoram, the valley of Hunza are kept as safe without any difficulties in recent years.
Terrorists
Generally dangerous is the whole area near the border with Afghanistan, particularly Waziristan (Taliban troops). Trekking in the Nanga Parbat is ideal with a guide, although it is not mandatory. There are sometimes „strange people“ in this area. The worst incident happened here on June 23, 2013, when there was massacred a group of foreign climbers by terrorists.
Bandits
Dangerous area is relatively large and deserted Baluchistan (criminal acts, kidnappings).
Sunstroke and heatstroke
There is very hot in Pakistan in the summer including in the mountains. Always keep headgear, relax in the shade and drink a lot.
