Although Cholula is listed as an independent city of hundreds of thousands, it basically connects to the large city of Puebla. The main reason to come here is the huge pyramid Tlachihualtepetl, which is measured to be the largest pyramid in the world. Today, however, it looks from almost all sides just like an overgrown hill with the church of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios on top. In addition to the pyramids in Cholula, you will also find a large monastery of St. Gabriel and the Church of St. Petra

Start your tour of Cholula in the main square. Every day there is a small ceremony to raise the Mexican flag

From the square, finally head to the Great Pyramid. Along the way you will pass the extensive monastery of St. Gabiela. However, the most beautiful view of it is from the large pyramid

View of Popocatepetl

Cholula is also famous for the famous viewpoint of Popocatépetl (5,426 m above sea level) and the slightly lower Iztaccihuatl (5,230 m above sea level). Among the volcanoes is the historically important Cortes saddle

Popocatepetl eruption

Popocatepetl is a very active volcano, so seeing it stare is a nice though relatively common experience. From time to time there are also larger eruptions.
