Compulsory hike with nice views
Flashing headlamps suggests that it is only a few hours after midnight and most of the tourists here start the longest day trek around Annapurnas – the crossing of the pass Thorong la (sometimes written as Thorung la)) . They thus pass the steepest section to the High Camp in the deep darkness or at dawn. But those who plan to accommodate at High Camp, or just go there for better acclimatization and in the afternoon go back to Thorong Phedi, can enjoy the beautiful views of not only Annapurna III., but also of Gangapurna.
Kone Khola Gorge
The path from Thorong Phedi rises meandering in scree slope. But the path is quite good. Nice views are to the once giant icefall, from which remained to these days only three hundred meters high cliff at one point broken by impassable ravines Kone Khola.

Ridge between Gangapurna and Tare Kang
View to the south of the main Himalayan ridge of Annapurna III. to Glacier Dome (7,069 m asl) opens with increasing vertical meters more and more, so that any longer breathing can be pretty well excused :-).
Annapurna III. (7555 m asl) in detail
The path through the endless bends approaches gradually closer to crag, then turns sharply right and through the closed valley, already without outlook, rises a few dozen altitude meters to High Camp. Most people who plan to go over the pass get up for nothing around three o'clock in the morning and they walk most of the time in great cold and dark. But the ideal time is around five in the morning. Those who have this stage only as acclimatization, or only move to High Camp, can start almost anytime. This ascent takes only something between 1–1.5 hours. Total elevation is 350 meters.
