The most beautiful beach in Cyprus
Almost at the tip of the Karpaz Peninsula, on the southern coast, there is a deserted two-kilometer-long beach with fine sand and a gradual entry into the sea. In some guides you will read that this „Golden beach“ is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Hard to judge, but it is definitely the most beautiful beach in all of Cyprus. The whole area is rather stagnant and is subject to nature protection, so the government is not interested in supporting any tourist development in this area. Wild donkeys and sea turtles live here. As a result, there are almost no accommodation and dining options and local roads are dilapidated, but this, on the contrary, reinforces the hope that this part of the island will be protected from turbulent tourist development and wild donkeys and turtles will continue to prosper.
Paradise in the Mediterranean
Due to the fact that the place is quite far from the last village and the turn-off from the asphalt road is in quite poor condition, there is really a minimum of people. The few hundred meters drive on the tankodrom road, but it's worth it. Clear, azure sea and one tiny beach stand. In the middle of almost untouched nature, surrounded only by sand, sea and rocks. In July, there are sea turtles that lay eggs in the area. Thanks to the deserted beaches and the declaration of a nature reserve, the little turtles have a chance to hatch successfully and crawl into the sea.
Cliffs above the azure sea
The beach, which is about two kilometers long, is surrounded by rocks. Only unspoiled nature, sand and sea. The few hotels or restaurants listed on the map are mostly deserted. If you bring your own supplies, you can spend a beautiful day relaxing here.
View over the beach
On the road leading along the coast is a small dusty campsite with a restaurant. It pays to stop here and enjoy the view down to the beach. It's really great!
