Varanasi is a sacred city on the banks of the river Ganges. The streets of the city are mostly dirty and dusty. But there are also nooks and crannies in the city full of colors and beauty. Flower markets are an example of this.

Finding a market

There are definitely markets in different places in the city. I then went to the market, which is located in the very center between the roundabout and the golden temple dedicated to Vishnu. It's hard to explain exactly where it is in such a huge city full of streets, but GPS coordinates should help you.

Trade and negotiation

In India, but also in the whole of Southeast Asia, I am fascinated by how people can trade and negotiate prices. The price is not one, but it can be discussed. If you do business or like to shop, observe some tricks, which you will then use with us, for example.

Flowers

The market sells flowers for religious ceremonies and they are mainly orange marigolds, multicolored hibiscus or white tuberose.

View from the roofs

From the surrounding roofs, the view of the markets is very interesting, you can observe the events on the market from a distance and get a better picture of everything without bothering.

Tourists and Indians

You don't have to worry about the market. It occurred to me that some Indian tourists were more afraid of tourists than doing anything to them. And some will start talking to you because they are curious.

Negotiation

It is interesting to watch the price negotiations. One salesman was so outraged by the customer that he tapped his forehead and showed that he had one less wheel.
