The main road from Kabale to Kisoro (about 70 km) and on to the border with Congo is not only an important connection between this part with the rest of the country, but also very scenic route, on which you overcome mountain pass Kanaba Gap (2 344 m asl), from where are beautifully visible the border volcanoes.

The beginning of mountains

The first kilometers from Kisoro in the direction of Kabale lead on the flat land (if it can be said about upland plateau at an altitude of nearly two thousand meters above sea level) through agricultural area without any earlier impassable forests. The mountains will then appear in front of you, which are only several parallel not very significant ridges.

Cultivated slopes of mountains

Thanks to local fertile volcanic soil is practically every, even impossible, place cultivated. Also here remained a small number of trees.

View of volcanoes

Finally, a lovely view of the border volcanoes opens. On its slopes still live mountain gorillas.

Remnants of the forest

On the other side of the pass awaits you the way through the last remnants of the original forest. The road then bypasses the northern end of Lake Bunyonyi before you arrive to Kabale, which is a relatively large transport junction.
