Season

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

Nepal has two main seasons:

  • The rainy season: this is the monsoon season from late spring to early autumn (May to September)
  • The dry season: markedly drier part of the year is October to April
Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

Most places in Nepal are available year-round.. Ideal season for visit is however March-April and October-November – the classic for Nepalese trekkers.

Spring

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

Spring is well-known for beautifully blooming rhododendrons and longer days, but nice weather usually begins to deteriorate in the early afternoon.

Summer

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

Summer is monsoon season. Is the largest heat, humidity and a lot of rain. The Himalayan peaks are hidden most of the time in the clouds. In other side the landscape is beautiful green.

Autumm

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

Autumn has the advantage of more stable weather. But there are short days compared to the spring season and too many tourists. In recent years, moreover, already happened several times that during the October snow storm came and it was several days of bad weather in a row.

Winter

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

The start of winter is already in the sign of the end of the season. Weather can still be nice, but it's too cold and there is a danger of substantial snowfalls. In addition, lodge personnel usually take a vacation in Kathmandu and most of lodges are closed.

Overcrowding

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

The most famous areas such as neighborhood of Annapurna and Everest are most popular for trekker in Nepal. But still, it is relatively possible to walk here without crowds. It is just necessary to follow the usual rules:

  • always set off early
  • sleep in smaller lodges – ideally those that are not mentioned in guidebooks as the final stages
  • select challenging alternative routes.
