Hike in the southern part of the Bohemian Forest
Since ancient times, the area of the Bohemian Forest has formed a natural border between Bohemia and Germany. A more significant settlement took place in the 16th century. The first glassworks, ironworks and brickyards are established. As a result of industry, the forest is being devastated. Industry in this area is stronger than inland. At the turn of the 20th century, people were released and expelled. Here nature comes in and again takes back what one has borrowed. It transforms the landscape into the natural beauty of beech forests mixed with spruce. One finds peace here.
Prospects
Already from Česká Kubica there is a beautiful view of Šumava and Velký Javor.

Mostek v býv. Bystřice
One of the beauties is this bridge in the former Bystřice.
Glassworks
Glassworks in the former. Bystřice. Closed for many years. There are beautiful trees and one of them traveled to Rome like a Christmas tree.
Wandering through the wild landscape
Sometimes one imagines that it is completely somewhere other than in our basin.
Three characters
The triad known as the Three Characters. Here, under Maria Theresa, the land borders were measured and three borders were found here. The place is in a very secluded place. A morning reunion with deer is no exception.
Čerchov
The highest peak in the Bohemian Forest 1042 m above sea level. It is surrounded by former barracks. The course tower (right) serves as a lookout tower. The military tower served as an interception, today it is used by the Air Force to navigate.
Haunted forests
The forests in the Bohemian Forest are constantly changing and the number of times the branching of the trees will do its thing. I don't want to go this way at night.
Used to be Herštejn Cottages
Herštejnské Chalupy was a settlement whose origin dates back to the beginning of the 18th century. At the time of the demise of 1950–1960, about 250 people lived here and there was a school and a fire brigade. Today, the foundations of houses can be seen in this area, such as in the photo or the overgrown perimeter masonry. The reason for the extinction was that the settlement was too close to the border.
The source of Radbuza
There are no tourist signs for the source of Radbuza, but you can get here by following signs. There are young forests in the area and it took me somewhere to Scandinavia. Again we are in a quiet and secluded place. The length of Radbuza is 112 km and together with the river Mží it forms the river Berounka.
Augustinian monastery in Pivona
It is one of the most valuable monuments of its kind in our territory. Dilapidated today.
Road map
The total route is 47 km. It must be taken into account that there are several unpleasant elevations. Otherwise, the road is relaxed. The region is definitely less visited than, for example, Šumava.
