The easiest walk you can take from the mountain hotel Rudolfshütte is the so-called Panoramaweg leading to a height above the hut called Schafbühel (2,335 m above sea level). This sightseeing tour takes about 30 minutes and is also suitable for families with children. From the lookout you will find wonderful views of the surrounding lakes and peaks

View of Lake Weißsee

The walk starts right at the mountain hotel Rudolfshütte, from where there is a wonderful view of Lake Weißsee. The peaks of the Stubacher Sonnblick (3,088 m above sea level) and the Granatspitze (3086 m above sea level) are on the rest of the glacier. The starting point of the route can be reached from Enzingerboden either by cable car or by a 3.5 hour long ascent (815 altitude meters)

View of the Kalser Tauern

Just a few meters from the mountain hotel you will find a signpost. From here, most tourists descend to the lake and set out to bypass it or hike to the Kalser Tauern saddle (2,515 m above sea level). It is then possible to ascend from the saddle to two peaks – in the photo on the left is Medelzkopf (2,762 m above sea level) to which a tourist path leads and on the right Tauernkogel (2683 m above sea level). Our comfortable trail turns left and so far leads practically along the contour line.

Eiskögele Viewpoint (3,423 m above sea level)

The path gradually wraps around the hill and opens a view of the former glacial valley topped by the peak of the Eiskögele (3,423 m above sea level)

View of the Tauernmoossee

The path begins to climb slowly and the view of the Tauernmoossee dam begins to open gradually. The dominant peak in front is Hocheiser (3,206 m above sea level) and at the back Kitzsteinhorn (3,203 m above sea level)

View of the Kalser Tauern saddle

The hike to the Kalser Tauern saddle is not difficult at all and we can only recommend it as a continuation of this circuit

Views of the Stubacher Sonnblick and the Granatspitze

However, the Stubacher Sonnblick and the Granatspitze are already climbing activities

View from Schafbühel

Finally we are on a small rock hill – Schafbühel. There are great views of the Tauernmoossee Dam. At the top there are a lot of rock men and signs describing the surrounding mountains

View deep into the Stubach valley

From the top there is also a nice view into the depths of the Stubach valley, from where you either came or took the cable car

View of the Berghotel

From the top, you will descend more steeply in a moment towards the hotel, which was under massive reconstruction during our visit – the end of 7/2020
