The Gramaialm mountain farm (1,260 m above sea level) is a great starting point for many tours in the Falzthurntal valley. You can take challenging hikes, for example to the top of Sonnjoch or to the Östliches Lamsenjoch saddle. If you have less time or just want to take a short walk, take the nice path to the waterfall on the stream Falzthurnbach, where it is just over a kilometer walk.

Franze Hittn

This short hike begins with the picturesque Franz Hittn

International route E4

We set off on a wide, comfortable path. In front of us on the horizon you can see the main ridge of the Karwendal Alps. This route is part of the European long-distance route E4 and at the same time the North Alpine Route 01. There are a really large number of cows around the farm that will pose for you

Landscape of the Karwendal Alps

No wonder the Karwendal Alps are very popular with tourists – the local landscape of limestone peaks, rocks, mountain meadows and solitary trees is very photogenic

Signpost Sonnjoch

In the meantime, we pass the turn to the waterfall and continue a little further to the crossroads, from where you can continue up to the Gramai-Hochleger-Schutzhütte and on to the top of Sonnjoch. The journey continues for almost a kilometer through a flat valley overgrown with bushes, so if you do not continue further into the saddle, then there is no point in continuing from there.

Waterfall

On the way back we will turn to the waterfall, go through the bushes and get to the gorge. The local waterfall is not typical. because it drifts through a rocky canyon. But it certainly has a special charm

View of the Rappenspitze

On the way back there are nice views of another popular local peak Rappenspitze
