If you want to get to know the easternmost tip of Oman, or the whole of Arabia, you have to go to the promontory of Ras al Hadd. He is best known for watching turtles laying eggs here. In addition, there are several places suitable for swimming, interesting cliffs and a castle

Road to Ras al Hadd

You can start your trip to the Ras al Hadd peninsula in Sur or its eastern suburb of Al Ayjah. The road is of course new and great. It leads through a deserted semi-desert landscape. The city of Ras al Hadd is about 40 kilometers

Road to the very end of the road

The road is surrounded by small hills. Then we drive through the town of Ras al Hadd and along the lagoon we come to the very end of the road, where the hotel is and the uninhabited guests are not very curious. In any case, you can go to the beach and take a bath

Endless beach on Ras al Hadd

Oman offers a lot of beautiful beaches where there is not even a living thing. In addition, there is only scant construction due to the fact that the coast falls into the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Nature Reserve

Visit to Ras al Hadd Castle

After a walk / swim on the beach, head back to the semi-deserted town of Ras al Hadd and visit the local castle (unless you are already a dam, which is easy in Oman)

On the way to Ras Al Khabbah

After a tour of the castle, head south. After a while, you will pass a turnoff to the small peninsula of Ras Al Jinz. Here you will find the small town of Junayz al Janubi, which serves as a starting point for beach camps where turtles lay their eggs. Another interesting stop further south is the cliffs of Ras Al Khabbah (about 35km drive from Ras Al Hadd)

Seaside towns

From the cliffs it is another 50 kilometers along the coast. The landscape is not very interesting in this area. You will pass several cities where it is possible to buy supplies

Inland journey

The last 30 kilometers to Jalan Bani Bu Ali is the most interesting of the whole trip. Sand dunes are increasing in the landscape and a pointed mountain peeks here and there
