Češovské valy is located in the south of the Jičín district in an area called Mariánská zahrada just a short distance from the village of Češov. It is a large prehistoric fortified settlement with the largest ramparts in Bohemia, situated on a wooded hill (321 m above sea level). For lovers of forest walks and history, an ideal short trip

Češov

The starting point for Češovské valy is a small, well-groomed village Češov. The biggest local landmark is the small bell tower on the square. Right next to it is a monument to St. Wenceslas and a short distance away the statue of Jan Kozina. From here you can take the nature trail in the direction of Valy

At the North Gate

The nature trail will take you to the so-called northern gate, where it is the most interesting – first a small rampart behind it a moat and the second a huge one.
