Itinerary of a trip to the South West of England

We left Gatwick, where we rented a car at the airport, then along the outer London ring road and southwest on the M3 and A303. There we built a column around Stonehenge. The advantage was that this monument could be observed comfortably from a car from the road, so there is no need to repeat the visit.

After a few hours on the highway and standing in columns, when, apart from Stonehenge, there is not much to see from the road, we went down a small road and relax in nature. In the Cranborne Chase Conservation Area, we stopped at Lake Shear Water for lunch and a stretch.

Following a small dirt road that leads between the corners and through smaller towns, we reached the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It was possible to climb up the rocky terrain up to the hill, from where there was a great view of the valley around the town of Čedar, where we were heading. At the top of the hill was also a post of gliders, which they pulled from the ground into the air with stretched rubber, where they sailed for a few minutes before landing at the same place again.

We have already enjoyed the land trip enough, so we headed for the change to the sea to the port city of Bunrham-on-Sea. You will find a long promenade along the sandy beach and popular piers. We arrived just before dusk, when the tide began. The town lives at a peaceful summer seaside pace.

For the first night of camping, we found a place in the Park4Night application near the seaside town. It was a free small parking lot at the beach. Together with a couple of caravans, we spent a quiet night in a tent with the rustle of the sea and the morning song of a bird.

For the second night in the tent, we found a place in Dartmoor Park, where only sheep in the pasture kept us company.

Last night from our trip, we found an Airbnb apartment in Plynmouth and set off early for the morning back to London. The first half we went through the villages along the sea and made stops in Dartmouth, where we crossed a small ferry across the bay, then in Torcross we walked on the dike between the sea and the lake to the capital of the Exeter region. From there, we drove straight on larger roads for about 5 hours to Gatwick to return the car.

After about a lot of driving from Plynmouth, we stopped in the seaside town of Torcross, where they have a long pebble beach. At the same time, the dam on which the road leads separates the beach with the sea from the long lake with wetlands, which is home to many species of birds.

Near Dartmouth you will find the large stone castle Dartmouth castle from the edge of the bay, which sits like a guard on a cliff and guards the city from raids.

The town of Dartmouth is located at the mouth of the River Dart into the sea. Her colorful houses stacked side by side overlooking the bay with boats. The bay is a rich source of crabs, which locals like to enjoy, and you can often see them on the menu in local restaurants. We used the ferry, which took us and the car to the other shore of the bay, from where we continued on to Exeter.
