Sharp ascent to the former lake
Stage of the trek around Annapurnas from Chamje to Tal (34 trek km) has two very different faces – at first steep ascent with views of the opposite shore, where is new road explicitly built into the rocks, up to completely flat upland plain, a former lake floor, near the village of Tal. Buddhist region of Manang begins in Tal. Good bye Lamjung!
Suspension bridge over the river
Right from the beginning of the trek you pass to the other side of the Marsyangdi river along super long suspension bridge.
Tough porters
Everybody admires tough local porters carrying extremely heavy loads only in simple backpacks on their backs. There is no problem to meet here even porters carrying „coops“ full of hens on the back :-)
Rock tooth
After an hour's walk in traversing the slope you finally come to an interesting outlook of a sharp rock tooth towering above the side valley, under whose top the workers just shoot a new road – but so far the road looks quite impassable.
Road work
Rock tooth towering above the confluence of the rivers is probably the most beautiful place in this stage. Marsyangdi river declines here on a small area by as much as 200 meters from the Talu. Thanks to that the path behind the confluence rises a great deal and tourist cannot wait to be at a nice flat upland plain at Tal. The entire opposite slope is unfortunately very ruined by the road works. Work in the diggers and bulldozers must be damn dangerous here. These huge machines seem to be really small here in comparison with the mountain slopes.
Side valley
The side valley with a small waterfall looks picturesque, but very impassable.
Former lake close to Tal
After almost an hour of sharper ascent you will be flabbergasted by breathtaking sprawling remains of a nice lake. The village of Tal (1670 m asl) is already visible in the distance.
Entry to Tal
After two hours of travel is the first buddhist gateway to the village ahead of us. We are in Tal – yet it is relatively meager, but you can recognize that you have entered into different region.
Caravan of horses
There is really picturesque landscape around the wide riverbed with pebbles islands in Tal (see the introductory photo of the photoreport). The path is crisscrossed by caravans of horses pulling tons and tons of burdens. On one side there is the old shot trekking path, on the other one road for cars is built.
