Auschwitz
The infamous Auschwitz-Birkenau II concentration camp serves as a memorial to the past. The camp has been operating since 1941, when the first Polish prisoners came here, and later Jewish and Roma prisoners also came here. Approximately 100,000 people were imprisoned in the camp at one time, while approximately 500,000 people died in the camp. The camp consisted of several parts: men's, women's, Hungarian and Roma, and a separate part for storing confiscated goods, most of the camp was destroyed by SS units upon departure.
Entrance area
Trains with prisoners came to these places, at the same time the prisoners were divided according to whether they would work, be experimented on or killed.
Male part
To the right are the still-preserved dormitories for the men who worked in the camp.
View of the hostel
There were a huge number of beds inside and about 100 people were said to have slept in one building.
Wagon
In the middle, as a memorial, there is a wagon in which prisoners were brought inhuman conditions to camps from all over Europe.
Destroyed part of the camp
Much of the camp was successfully destroyed by German SS troops, and only the ruins that serve as monuments to the past have been preserved.
Gas chamber
Debris from the largest gas chamber, where the incinerator was located.
"Canada"
The part of the camp called Canada, where the warehouses of confiscated goods were located, and at the same time as the only preserved buildings where prisoners were placed.
Female part
On the left side is a preserved part of the camp with brick buildings, where women and children were accommodated, and at the same time there was also the infamous Dr. Josef Mengele.
Block 16a
This block included mainly Jewish but also Polish children.
Children's part
The dormitory where the children were located had walls described with various inscriptions in several languages.
View from inside
There are a huge number of beds in the brick buildings, where a large number of people slept on one bed, in this particular building there were women waiting here for their death.
