El Jem (El Džem) is a historical city, the biggest attraction of which is the Roman amphitheater registered on the UNESCO list. It was built before 238 AD and had a capacity of 30,000 seats. Some of its parts were later dismantled as building material. According to the local guide, it is even better preserved than the one in Rome, as some of its parts have recently been restored.
