Babia hora (1,725 m above sea level) is the highest peak of the Beskids and the entire Western Carpathians. It is situated on the border between Poland and Slovakia. Together with the Krivan Mountains in the High Tatras and the Králova Hoľa in the Low Tatras, it is considered to be the Slovak national mountain. Ascent to the top is quite demanding (cant exceed 1000 m). The best starting point from the Slovak side is from the Slaná voda chalet above village Oravská Polhora.
