Trip to Sequoia and Kings Canyons NP

We visited this national park in California. What makes it special? It is because there are the largest trees in the world, and it is no coincidence that there is the largest tree in the world named General Sherman and its data is breathtaking. The diameter of the trunk is 11 meters, the circumference of the trunk is 31 meters and the diameter of its largest branches is 4.2 meters and 2 meters in our country, such branches would be huge trees. It hides about 1,500 cubic meters of wood. One would say fuel for life, but these Sequoias don't burn very well, they don't burn. Large redwoods have a thick bark of up to 60 cm, so they are protected from any parasite and fire. The trees are charred, but the fire here helps the trees to seed seeds from the cones and multiply. The General's height is 84 meters and his age is estimated at 2,300 – 2,700 years and he does not want to retire. The park is founded in 1890. South of it is King Canyons NP, but today it belongs to one administration. This park was included on the UNESCO list in 1976. It is difficult to describe something that one must see with one's own eyes in order to understand the power of trees. In the park it is possible to make several stops and make several circuits. There are other great men who breathe on General Sherman's back.

Here it is easy to see how charred the trees are. But fire helps these trees to reproduce rather than harm them. Sequoia wood almost does not burn.

At the end of 1937, this redwood fell over the road. The lumberjacks dug it out like this to get the road back on track.
