It is over 400 km from Ottawa and over 200 km from Montreal. Nevertheless, it is worth a visit, both in the summer months and in the winter, when it turns into an ice kingdom.

Montmorency Fall should be written Chute-Montmorency, because the waterfalls are located in the Canadian francophone province of Quebec. Here and there we read about certain efforts to make the province independent, and proof that Quebecs are justifiably proud of their language is that while, in fact, an octagonal road sign known throughout the world with the word STOP, including France itself, it is installed here only in the French version, so it is necessary to remember the word Arret. The waterfalls are located about 12 km northeast of the capital of the eponymous province of Quebec, between the parts of Beauport and Boischatel. There are two ways to get to the waterfalls from the city, if I omit the experiment with my own feet (but count on the fact that there is not necessarily a sidewalk everywhere), you can get here either by car (road no. 440, exit no. 325 and further by marking to the lower parking lot) or by city bus, for example, by express line number 800 directly from the center of Quebec. The paradox is that the railway line passes through the area and there is even a stop. Almost everywhere in Europe, at least a shuttle service to the waterfalls in the season would be introduced from the center, but since the average Canadian will more often use a roller coaster in an amusement park than a train in his life, the railway only serves as the final stop for a sightseeing tourist train going to the other side. to La Malbaie and for a very exorbitant price (98 CAD). Upon arrival at the parking lot of the resort, you pay about 12 CAD for parking, if you do not want to use any of the additional services such as cable car, Zipline attraction or climbing the „Tyrolean path“ then these are the only expenses you have to spend on the tour. And in the operating building, which also serves as the lower station of the cable car, you can refresh yourself and buy the necessary view and add a stamp of another interesting place to the hiking trail. The attraction can be seen from below, but also from the footbridge spanning the Montmorency River directly above the waterfalls. When moving to the lookout point closest to the impact point of the body of water, which falls from a height of 83 meters (and thus exceeds its Niagara brothers), one can still enjoy the view of the falling water accompanied by a proper sound effect. At the foot of the waterfall, he can admire the rainbow, which is constantly created by the shattering drops of water, and possibly be refreshed by the continuous gentle rain in which they transform. Afterwards, you can use the stairs, which alternate the views from time to time, and from here you can take pictures of this natural creation, which Samuel de Champlain, the founder and first mayor of Quebec named Charles de Montmorency Damville, named after the French Minister of the Navy. It is also possible to look at the plain where the battle (sometimes also referred to as the Battle of Beauport) took place in 1759 between the English and the French. Furthermore, all that remains is to walk to the footbridge suspended above the overflow of the waterfall and enjoy the view not only directly into the water depths but also into the distance to the mighty river St. Lawrence, the silhouette of Quebec or the Orleans bridge connecting the opposite island on the river. The next path then leads to the upper station of the cable car with the necessary tourist infrastructure. It can be used to return to the parking lot, which a hard-core tourist will certainly not do. So face back and once again enjoy the breathtaking views of this natural creation. It is no coincidence that in the TOP 10 basically all possible guides to the province of Quebec.
