The Canary Islands consist of 13 islands, but only 8 of them are inhabited. The smallest of them is La Graciosa with 700 inhabitants. And the best view of this island is from Mirador del Río.

Palomo Valley

We take the LZ-10 road to the north coast of Lanzarote. On the central ridge in front of the town of Haría, there is a wonderful view to the east across the Valle del Palomo to the Atlantic. To the north is Haría and the top of Monte Corona disappears in the clouds.

Haría

We descend the serpentines to an interesting town. Haría invites us to walk through the narrow streets between the white facades of the houses.

Haría

The place could get the nickname City of Palms. There are also vineyards with typical protective zippers. Another welcome attraction is the open-air market with a number of local artifacts and live music.

Mirador del Río

We continue further north and through the town of Ye we reach the parking lot of the Mirador del Río viewpoint. From here there is a wonderful view of the eighth inhabited island of the Canary Islands – La Graciosa. From a height of 475 m above sea level is an island 1.5 km away with its volcanic cones in the palm of your hand. By the way, Graciose is only on foot or by bike… no cars.

Mirador del Río

The lookout was built in 1974 and was designed by the greatest Canarian architect César Manrique. It is nestled inside volcanic material and the view of neighboring Graciosa can be enjoyed with a good coffee or other popular drink.

Famara

From the vantage point, we drive to the right along a very narrow road, leading just above the steep cliffs of Famara. From many stops you can admire the wild coast of Lanzarote from here.
