** Roraima trek II. **: the next day you have to decide whether to choose a simpler variant of the trek or a more demanding one in which you will save the whole day. The simpler variant leads through the savannah, still up to Base Camp (1,900 m above sea level) on the edge of the forest around Table Mountain. It is about 8 kilometers and 800 meters. If you have more strength, choose a more difficult variant and continue further to the table mountain and a steep path up to its top plateau approx. 2,250 m above sea level.

Morning view of Kukenán

It rains quite often here overnight, especially directly above the table mountains, which attract clouds like a magnet. The views from the camp are really beautiful.

Ascent from the river Kukenán

Today is significantly more nutritious on the climb than yesterday's crossing of the savannah. Looking back, you can see the ridge with the chapel that you crossed yesterday.

Endless view of the savannah

The closer you are to the mountain, the steeper the climb. The savannah seems to stretch to infinity.

Base camp Roraima

After less than three hours, you will reach Base Camp Roraima, located essentially on the edge of the forest surrounding Table Mountain. From here you can see the road leading directly to the wall of the mountain. Those who prefer a slower pace can camp here, but it is ideal to go further to the top plateau after a short rest – you will save the whole day.

Ascent to the wall of Roraima

The ascent to the wall of Table Mountain and further to the top is the most difficult part of the road with an overview, especially in the rain it can be very slippery. However, local guides often have very poor tourist equipment and can handle it.

Primeval forest at Table Mountain

The vicinity of Table Mountain is completely different from the arid savannah you walked a day and a half before. Trees, plants, butterflies and water. Before human activity, it looked like this everywhere.

Steep walls of Table Mountain

You are almost within reach of the mountain and you are still thinking about where the path leads up. The walls seem so steep and impassable. The trail leads as if through a „green balcony“, which is clearly visible in the photo.

Finally, you are approaching a vertical wall, from where the entrance to the final ascent is
