On the way from Nadi Bazar to the village of Bahundanda (1310 m asl) you encounter the first real ascent on the trek around Annapurnas. The path rises from the Marsyangdi river through the long ascent to the village / 17.2 trek km / enthroned on a small pass between an incredible number of rice fields. Views of almost the entire path are really worth the effort done.

Marsyangdi river valley

The journey from Nadi still leads along the river. Horizon is dominated by a nice hill, on whose eastern side is the pass with the village of Bahundanda (Brahman´s hill) – the goal of this stage of the trek.

Thakan

At the Thakan village the tourist path joins to the dusty jeep road into the valley of Nadi Kholi, which turns here over the bridge from the other side of the river. From here begins the constant ascent up to Bahundanda. It is important not to go wrong direction from here and exit the dusty road after about 800 meters (turn exactly in the twist). Views of the rice fields on the other side of the river are quite nice.

View of the valley

The path continues to rise and the valley slowly disappears in the depths.

View of Bahundanda

View of the Brahmans hill is no longer in the shadow and you can see the village huddling in the pass completely on the right. Despite the early start of the trek it begins to be hot, which is very exhausting at this altitude.

Rice amphitheater

The amphitheater begins to be more and more monumental with the increasing elevation. But Bahundanda hill looks just like a small hillock from this side (see the introductory photo of the photoreport).

Just below Bahundanda

Tourists tired by the ascent are already looking forward to snack and cool drinks in the pass.

The view from the pass to the south

Finally in the pass, 400 vertical meters above the river. The views are amazing.

The view to the north from the pass

The view to the north is even nicer. Everyone just realizes here how far it is still to Annapurnas.
