Hike Gangapurna tal and Chongkor

From Manang situated on a large promontory above the river you descent to the bridge near the lake Gangapurna Tal. You ascent sharply to the moraine from here and then along the hairpin bends through pine forest. After about an hour walk there are nice views of the western part of the valley with the ridge separating Manang from the Lower Mustang. You can nicely see the two paths leading from Manang – the lower leading under the fields to Khangsar and the upper above the fields to Yak Kharka.

The two bright white tops of Syagang and Khatungkang tower in the distance above the arid slopes. You can undertake a nice trip to them from „the other side“ from Thorong High Camp.

Fluttering flags indicate that we are on the viewpoint. Views are not bad, but however they are much more interesting opposite from the other side of the valley in the direction of Annapurnas. The trails lead further and higher, so it is possible to hike a little longer.
 

The view of east in the direction of the last remnants of forest on the Pisang peak is also quite nice.

But for most tourists is the most interesting view of the lake Gangapurna Tal – again nicely seen from the same descent path.
