The highest trek in the Czech Republic
The Krkonoše ridge crossing is probably the most classic mountain march you can take in the Czech Republic. It runs on both sides of the Czech-Polish border. The highlight of the march is the ascent to Sněžka (1,603 m above sea level). This short trek will take you 2–3 days, depending on your condition.
Boarding the ridge
Four options to start the trek
The Giant Mountains begin in the west in Novosvětský sedlo (886 m above sea level), which separates them from the Jizera Mountains. From here, right (if we want to go along the main ridge) our march should begin. However, the reality is a bit more complicated. – ** Variant 1: ** the ridge leads from Jakuszyc, Poland via Kocierz, Mumlavská hora (Žlabský vrch), Luboch to Hal Szrenica and further to Svinské kameny. However, the official road does not only lead through the border path through the 1st zone of the national park, so entry is prohibited. – ** Option 2: ** from Jakuszyc along the green route to Hal Szrenica and further to Svinské kameny (2.5 h, 7.5 km) – ** Option 3: ** from Szklárská Poreba along the red to Hal Szrenica (3h, 6 , 5km) – ** Variant 4: ** from Harrachov through the Mumlava valley to Vosecká bouda and to the ridge near Svinský stones (3.5h, 9km). From Svinské kameny, the route is the same no matter which variant you go. In another 2 km / 1 hour you will reach the Czech Booth, where this boarding stage over the Krkonoše ridge ends.

Across the highest mountain in the Czech Republic
