Kargil, as the largest city in western Ladakh, is also an important traffic junction. Although most connections go from here to Leh or to Srinagar, buses run in the morning to the beautiful Suru Valley (and on to Zanskar), where the city of Panikhar is an ideal tourist destination. If you want to leave the classic circuit, this detour is an ideal trip for a few days

The journey from Kargil is going smoothly, because there is still something to see. Especially in places where the valley widens. The first higher massif rises on the horizon, but it is still not the famous Nun and Kun

Sanko / Sankoo / Sanku

Halfway to Panikharu lies the town of Sanko, which serves as a refreshment / toilet break for bus lines. As everywhere in the valley of the river Suru, there are beautiful views from here. It is also the starting point for a lesser-known trek across the Wakha saddle to Rangdum
