The famous ferrata on the Drachenwand mountain, which rises above the Austrian lake Mondsee to a height of 1060 m. Shortly after entering the protected part, we begin to have wonderful views of the entire lake, a secluded house and a small town. Ferrata is quite physically undemanding. Possible problems can occur on air walls, where you climb only after short slopes in the rock. Adrenaline is also the crossing of a suspension bridge or sitting on a bench attached to a rock, where there is only an empty space below you.

Boarding the wall

After about twenty minutes, marked path from the parking lot, we get to the beginning of the ferrata. We were the first to climb the rock here after 6 am. Around 11 o'clock we sat down in the restaurant and many tourists flocked around us heading for the ferrata. Therefore, I would recommend getting up and enjoying the ferrata in a few people.

Bench in the air

When you sit on this bench, you feel that your neck is tightening and your breath is taking hold. You are sitting on a rock and there is nothing under you. Just a deep hole down. (It is not visible from the photo, but there is an abyss about 250–300 meters deep below you)

Top cross

After a two-hour journey up, there is a descent of about an hour and a half on a forest path back to the village.
