Wadi Bani Khalid is not just beautiful swimming ponds or gorges and caves. From here you can go to a beautiful view in the form of the hill Jebel al Flahwil (947m). The ascent road is marked by Omani tourist signs and leads in a comfortable terrain of large rock plates. After 300 meters, you are finally at the top and you have the whole Wadi in the palm of your hand.

Start of ascent

From the bridge at the last lake it is nice to see where to go. Swimmers pass through the gorge, those interested in caves go only slightly over the river and we, which we plan to go up the hill, follow the signs leading to the right high above the gorge.

Looking down into the gorge

Looking down is also worth it. The trail leading through the bottom of the gorge to the local bat cave is clearly visible

Above the junction of the canyons

Above the junction of the canyons, the trail turns to the right and then climbs along the edge above the side valley. This is where the sun trail to the top begins. The subsoil is large rocky plates, so it goes beautifully in any shoe. Wide views also begin to open from this location

Mountain village

After a twenty-minute walk, you may be surprised to find another village. But you will meet herds of goats than people here.

Exit path

The ascent path is quite obvious – the goal is a rocky hill right in front of you. Thanks to the rock plates, you can go practically arbitrarily, but here and there the painted signs lead only the optimal route

Top panorama

Finally we are at the top and we can enjoy a great panorama in the south

Road to the interior of Wadi Bani Khalid

From the top you can see a dusty road that leads on the other side of the canyon deep into the valley of Wadi Bani Khalid. Possible tip for travelers with an off-road car

View from the top to the north

To the north are even higher peaks than our rocky hills. The hiking trail detaches before the summit and leads to the summit on the left and further into the interior of the mountains. The way back is the same as the exit
