To the southeast of the large city of Merida is the Sierra Nevada National Park (Parque Nacional Sierra Nevada). Here you will find the highest mountains in the country led by Pico Bolivar (4,978 m above sea level) and Pico Humboldt (4,942 m above sea level). During the local friction and mountain ascents, you will enjoy a drastic change of landscape from green forests to small remnants of glaciers. The entire national park falls in the Sierra Nevada de Mérida
